Review: NYX soft matte lip cream in San Paulo

I had no idea that I would be purchasing a HOLY GRAIL product yesterday. Well, let’s be honest here, I didn’t know that Todd would be purchasing a HG product for me!

I have heard many wonderful things about NYX’s soft matte lip creams. I have no idea why I waited so long to jump onto the bandwagon, but I am happy that I am finally here.

L1050570

San Paulo is the most beautiful rosy pink shade that I have ever owned. This year I have decided to venture away from my tried and true red lipstick (as much as it pains me to do so). Pinks are my worst fear, but San Paulo gets me all giddy inside!! Yes, lipstick gets me excited, I know you probably feel the same way if you are reading my blog on the regular! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just want to wear a broad range of colors, and this lip cream is perfect for daily wear. I fear that I may stop wearing all of my other lip products because I love this so much.

This lip cream pairs perfectly with the Naked 3 palette by the way.

  • Very pigmented
  • Long lasting

  • Matte
  • Not drying

Cons:

  • Honestly, none! (:

Blushing Daisy Score: 10/10!

Go to Target and pick one of the babies up! What are you waiting for?

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Pen Review

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Review

This is actually an item that I didn’t think I would ever purchase. Why? Because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around a pen shaped eyeliner. I purchased the same style eyeliner from ELF about seven (yes seven) years ago. It was dry when I received it, and I chalked it up to being a pen shape. Now, I am not saying that ELF’s eyeliner pen is bad as of today, they may have improved it in due time. Hell, I don’t even know if they sell it anymore!

So, why do I own this? This was in a little Sephora bag that my boyfriend, Todd, surprised me with recently. He is the sweetest, and I adore him! I don’t know if he will be reading this, but THANK YOU SWEETIE!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Review

The applicator is a felt tip, and it is a bit flimsy at the very tip. I can see this possibly being a problem for some, but I don’t have any problem using it. The cap feels spring loaded and very secure. I suggest that this be stored upside down, so you can get the most out of your product. I have heard very, very bad things about how quickly this pen can dry up (usually about 3 months). I haven’t had this product long enough to know, but I have had absolutely no problems so far. My guess is that the pen isn’t being stored properly? I will do an update post once this thing is dry/all used up. Who knows, it may be booted off of my HG (holy grail) list… Well, I guess you know that this will be a positive review!!

I feel naughty for recycling a photo, but I think that it shows the product very nicely. This pen is SO easy to use, and I get wings so sharp, “they could kill a man”. I usually get both of my wings applied in a minute or less with this eyeliner, and they always look FAB. I have fallen asleep with this liner on (unintentionally actually), but it was ALMOST perfect when I woke up in the morning. I literally touched up the spots that had some wear and went about my day. My eyes have never gotten irritated with this eyeliner. I have had problems with some liquids in the past, they burn my eyes! Some people experience flaking with this pen, and I haven’t had that problem AT ALL! This may be a love/hate product. Just know: Sephora has a great return policy, and don’t feel embarrassed if you want to return any products.

This product retails for $20 at Sephoraย for 0.016oz. Oh my, that is $1,250/oz!! You know what I may be doing? Looking for a drug store dupe until I am employed. I would buy this product forever if I could, but I will let you in on a big secret: I AM BROKE! ๐Ÿ˜€

Well, let me give you the run down:

Pros:

  • Pigmented
  • Long lasting (with out primer)
  • Ease of use
  • Sleek packaging
  • Wings so sharp, they could kill a man

Cons:

  • Oh me, oh my that price! (psst, I would repurchase.)

Blushing Daisy Score: 9.5/10ย

Why didn’t I dock more points for the price? Because I think this item is worth the splurge. I may reevaluate this score if I find a good drugstore dupe! For now, I am EXTREMELY pleased with this item. I don’t know how the quality of the colored liners are, but speaking for the black, I am quite fond.

Do you own this product? How do you like it? What other pen style liners have you used?

Too Faced Snow Bunny Review

_IGP9805

Ah, I have been waiting for this moment. I feel like all I have been doing is cranking out reviews! I need to get jumpstarted on some tutorials soon. I promise, that will be top priority once finals are over in two weeks (that, and cleaning my bedroom!). Anyway, I have been waiting for this moment because of how much I love this product.

I have used this bronzer [almost] everyday since Todd surprised me with it. 1. I didn’t know I was a bronzer girl, and 2. I didn’t know I would be in love with shimmer this much.

If you are solely interested in a matte bronzer, this is not for you! This bronzer is also geared toward light to medium skin tones.

This bronzer really gives me a luminous glow, and it definitely doesn’t have huge chunks of glitter. I would say that it is in between a sheen and light glitter. It is just all around adorable.

_IGP9810

Just look at it!!

I swirl it all together [lightly-a little really goes a long way!] with a fan brush for an all over luminous glow- I think a kabuki would work better for this. OR I pick and choose which colors I want to use on different parts of my face. I love that it is a bronzer and highlighter all in one.

_IGP9822
[Yes, there is smoothie on my lip; I have no shame! :D]

I actually applied this more heavily so it would show up in the photo more easily. It is gorgeous. I feel so dewey and fresh when I wear this bronzer!!

L1050323

Here is my swatch from the haul post, you an see how nice it is on the right. It isn’t too orange like other bronzers.

This bronzer retails for a whopping $30 at Sephora.ย  You receive 0.28 oz, so this bronzer is priced at about $107/oz. That’s steep, but with the amount of product you use at a time, this thing will last FOREVER. I will be in shock the day I hit pan.

Pros:

  • Luminous glow
  • Shimmer (if that’s your thing)
  • Highlighter/bronzer duo
  • Great packaging (including mirror)
  • A little goes a long way
  • Lasts ALL day with no primer

Cons:

  • Expensive (but worth it)
  • Shimmer (if that isn’t your thing!)

Blushing Daisy Score: 10/10

If you don’t like shimmer, then this really isn’t for you. If you only want a highlighter (with shimmer) I would suggest Too Faced Candlelight Glow. This highlighter contains the two lightest colors that are in Snow Bunny. I would want it, but I already own the colors in Snow Bunny. ๐Ÿ˜›

I think this bronzer is worth the price, and I would repurchase once I run out. This has become an HG product for me. It has since then made me want Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil for contouring, but NYX Taupe will have to do (whenever I get around to purchasing that!)

What is your favorite bronzer/highlighter?

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Eyeliner Pencil Review

L1050423

Look at this beauty!

ud-1

First Photo (12pm):

  • No primer!
  • Applied UD liner
  • Smudged it with my finger
  • Applied a little more UD liner
  • Curled lashes (NYC curler)
  • MUFE Smokey Extravagant Mascara

I love testing the wearability of new pencil liners! I am SO picky when it comes to them. I have been solely using MAC’s Technakohl Graphblack pencil liner since I was 15, and I went through a lot of (drugstore) liners before I caved and bought that one. It was love at first line. I haven’t tested a basic black pencil liner since!

Recently, Todd surprised me with Urban Decay’s new pencil liner, and I was stoked. I have been wanting to try their eyeliner for a few years now ย (yay for being broke!).

I wore it earlier in the week with primer and eyeshadow, and it didn’t budge. I knew that I wanted to test it by itself sans primer before I posted a review.

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves first!

ud-2

This photo was taken at midnight (12 hours later). The fallout you see is actually my mascara. There was some fading, but it faded so perfectly that it looks pretty freshly applied!

ud-3

This photo was taken at about 10am this morning (22 hours later). It looks the same as when I went to bed. (I know I am gross for sleeping in my eye makeup… It was for science!). I AM AMAZED. I could literally just walk out the door right now.

Pros:

  • LONG LASTING
  • Pigmented
  • Buttery smooth

Cons:

  • Needs sharpening
  • A little pricey ($20 a pop!)

Blushing Daisy Score: 10/10!!

This baby is worth the price. I think I found my new HG (Holy Grail) pencil liner!
Thanks Todd!!
