To get this post started, let me just say that I received these products complimentary from a site called influenster for testing purposes. Just because I received these products for free, doesn’t change the fact that my review is based on my own opinions.

Now, let’s get to the fun part!

If you haven’t already noticed from the name of the box, these products are geared towards summer! I think “surfs up” suits me well since I live just a short drive away from the nearest beach on sunny Orange County!

Every box comes with an information card that gives a little description of each product that you receive. I love the photo on the card, it’s adorable! If you want to be apart of this community, either post your email down below, or email me at:

Jamba Juice Smoothie Kit

Right under the card were these Jamba Juice coupons! They are for these smoothie kits that Jamba Juice sells in grocery stores. I picked up Razzmatazz, under the request of my lovely boyfriend. You only need to add juice, and the bag says it contains two servings. Todd and I don’t drink juice, so I added almond milk instead.

  • The card says that they retail for $3.49, but they were $4.49 at my local grocery store.
  • You receive 80z in the bag of fruit & yogurt, thats less than 60 cents/oz depending on the price at your grocery store.
  • Not including the price of added juice.

The Razzmatazz kit had:

  • Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
  • Non-fat yogurt cubes
  • There is sugar added (20g total before juice is added)
  • Small amount of banana
  • Modified corn starch (I’m guessing in the yogurt)
  • Xanthan gum (probably in the yogurt too)
  • Stevol glycosides and absorbic acid (preservatives)

  • I prefer razzmatazz from Jamba Juice, but if we used apple juice and not almond milk, it may have been closer to the flavor.
  • It was sweet in a sugary way, not a sweet ripe fruit way.

  • I prefer the smoothies I make from scratch. It’s cheaper in bulk, and there is no added sugar.
  • There wasn’t much for two people. This whole pack made about the amount of an original size at Jamba Juice, for about the same price. I would prefer to just go to Jambe Juice and get a smoothie from them if I was going to drink something with added sugar.
  • I still want to try the green machine one though, I will use my $1 off coupon.
  • I wouldn’t repurchase after I use my last coupon.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Lotion

Hawaiian Tropic_1

I have used the Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen before, and I loved it! I was really excited to test this. The scent is coconut papaya, and it leaves a nice, faint scent on your skin after application. It is half lotion and half aloe vera, and you can see the ribbons through the bottle. It’s soothing and cooling on the skin, and does last a long time. I always wear spf when I go out, but my skin feels tired after being in the sun all day. This is a nice pick me up for my skin!

  • The bottle I received is 2oz, and it runs for $2.99, which is $1.50/oz
  • The regular size bottle is 8oz for $8.99, running at ~$1.13/oz
  • Both are a great price for this product, in my opinion.

  • Smells nice, it faint on the skin
  • Soothing & cooling
  • Good price
  • I will definitely be repurchasing once I run out! I may pick up some more sunscreen from HT as well.

First Aid Shot Therapy

First Aid

This is an interesting concept: a berry flavored caffeine shot containing 500mg of choline salicylate (NSAID). For those of you who don’t know me, I have fibromyalgia. I was interested to try this because I live with aches and pains on a daily basis. I happened to have menstrual cramps, back pain, wrist pain, and a headache right before I took this.

  • $2.99 for one dose (1.35 fl oz)

  • Smells like a juice pouch
  • Tastes like watered down cough syrup
  • Started feeling some relief from cramps/back pain in 20 min!
  • It didn’t help with my headache or wrist pain
  • Would be great to pick up in a pinch on a road trip, but I would stick to my pill formed NSAIDS.
  • I tend to not take medication, even in pain though.
  • This says it can help with hang overs. It won’t cure it, but it may help ease your symptoms. Drink a lot of water!

Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polish

Sinful Colors_1

The shade is Firefly: a bright neon yellow with micro glitter. I am actually wearing a different shade from Sinful Colors on my fingernails, and I am really impressed! I saw some people receiving this gorgeous blue shade, and I was a little disappointed when I opened my box. BUT I am glad to have a yellow polish now because I did not own one previously.

The application looks bad because I was in a hurry.

The application looks bad because I was in a hurry.

  • $1.99 for 0.5 fl oz: $3.98/fl oz.
  • This is one of the cheapest nail polishes on the market!

  • You need two coats, no matter the shade.
  • long lasting (over a week with no base/top coat!)
  • Cheap
  • Good color range
  • I am going to hunt down that blue shade at Target!
  • Go buy some shades, you’ll be pleasantly surprised (like I was!)

COVERGIRL Bombshell Curvaceous by LashBlast Mascara

I have heard some bad things about this mascara, but I honestly think that it was user error. I had a terrible first application, but it applies fine if you don’t try to rush it. You need to remove this with an oil based makeup remover (I used coconut oil!). I had a dramatic difference, and I DIDN’T use an eyelash curler.

I am quite impressed.

  • $9.49-11.99 for 0.66 fl oz
  • ~$14.38-18.17/fl oz
  • About half the price of a mid-end mascara

  • Curling, lengthening, and volumizing
  • Lashes still felt pretty natural
  • Removed easily with coconut oil
  • No flaking
  • Cute packaging, and it’s weighted nicely
  • Would I repurchase? Maybe! I have so much mascara to go through, so I can’t think about buying more!
  • Let’s say if I went on vacation (like I am next week), and I happened to  forget my mascara, I would probably purchase this!
  • I like using two mascaras at once, and this is perfect for that!

Do you own any of these products? How do you like them?

FOTD: June 6th, 2014

Hello everyone!

I thought I would just do a quick face of the day today. I am excited to review a bunch of products, but I want to use them just a tad bit more so that I can review them properly!

I wanted to look fabulous while I sat in bed and binged watch season two of Orange is the New Black! I won’t give any spoilers, but I feel like I should have waited to read the book until the series was finished… I am too practical for the huge differences between the book and the show! I am just going to have to enjoy the series in all of it’s false-ness. (:

Onto the products!

  •  YSL Creme Blush in shade 4, Audacious Orange
  • MUFE Aqua Liner in shade 4, Diamond Lagoon Green
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, Jet Black
  • Smashbox Eye Brightening Mascara
  • Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
  • ELF Brow Kit, Medium (Mixed with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean)
  • MAC Lip Erase Balm in Dim
  • MAC Amplified Lipstick in Vegas Volt
  • NYC Eyelash Curler

Photos, photos galore!

I really wasn’t in the mood to take selfies today, sorry if I don’t look too excited! (:

I did a larger wing with the MUFE liner, then went over it with the Stila pen.

OOTD/FOTD Vegas Edition

Why hello ladies and gentleman!

I had a nice time in Las Vegas over the weekend. If you read my last post then you know that my reason for being in “Sin City” was for an European Car Festival (Wuste).

It was was definitely hot and the wind was crazy, but I had a nice time seeing people that I don’t get to see very often! I also met a bunch of awesome people as well. My boyfriend, Todd, and I always enjoy going to these events together. Our friend also drove down from Sacramento, so it was awesome to see him as well!

Let’s jump to the things that you guys care about!

This was my outfit for main day of the festival, Saturday. I wanted my skirt to be tight fitting because of how windy it was!!

  • Blouse: H&M (Gift from the lovely Todd)
  • Belt: Forever 21
  • Skirt: Forever 21
  • Wedges: Urban Outfitters

I wanted to keep it simple, and I actually got a lot of compliments from random people! Yay!

Now, my makeup:

I decided to skip the BB cream so that I could reapply my sunscreen as needed. I learned that matte lip products are not the best things for 20+ mph winds, but I managed! Ok, it was so windy that I thought that my false eyelashes were going to just fly right off of my face! They lasted throughout the day though! It was my first time wearing them in public, and I felt fabulous. I ended up cutting my Callas lashes and only putting them on the outer corner of my eye. They were a lot easier to apply that way (great for beginners like me!).

  • Elta MD facial sunscreen, SPF 40
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12hr Blush, Tipsy
  • Too Faced Snow Bunny
  • Too Faced Primed and Poreless (setting powder)
  • Covergirl Clean Concealer
  • Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance
  • ELF Brow Kit (Mixed with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean)
  • Callas Lashes (cut)
  • Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner Pencil (tight line)
  • Smashbox Eye Brightening Mascara
  • Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
  • UD Naked 3 (Limit, Burnout, Nooner, Darkside, Blackheart, & Strange)
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso

I wanted to do big, dramatic wings, but my eyes were so irritated from the hot wind. I decided to keep it simple this weekend!

Here is the man behind the camera; the man who stole my heart! I had a great time with him, and he always spoils me to pieces!

Product list for this photo (taken Friday):

  • Elta MD Facial Sunscreen, SPF 40
  • Clinique Cheek Pop in Peach Pop
  • Too Faced Snow Bunny
  • Too Faced Primed and Poreless (setting powder)
  • ELF Brow Kit (Mixed with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean)
  • Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance
  • UD Naked 3 (Limit, Nooner, Factory, Darkside, Strange)
  • Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner Pencil (Tight Line)

I hope you enjoyed the read! If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Covergirl Clean Invisible Concealer Review

I have finally accepted the fact that I have dark circles, and I have yet to find my dream concealer (any suggestions?). I really didn’t like this concealer when I first started using it- “You get what you pay for!” keeps ringing in my head. I also really wanted to try Maybelline’s Age Rewind concealer, but $10 was a bit steep for me. Covergirl’s concealer is about $5 at Target. I have heard good things about Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge Concealer (sold at Walmart- $6), so that may be my next choice.

I had a bit of a learning curve with this concealer. I started with using my fingers, and I really didn’t like the finish. It didn’t crease, but you could tell that it was there. I decided to try applying it with a beauty blender… that is when I started liking the concealer more. You can still faintly see my dark circles, but it is a major improvement! I do not look as tired now (yay). -I didn’t use a setting powder yesterday, and I still didn’t see any creasing.

Swatches! You can see it blended out on the right, but my face is a bit darker than the inside of my arm. The consistency is a bit liquid-y.

(don’t mind the fallout of mascara, it was from removal, not application)

Look at those babies! They actually look worse in person. This semester has not been kind to me.

(Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara- 3 coats on the left, 2 on the right.)
I used the triangle application method, and blended downward with a wet beauty blender. I did two coats since the beauty blender thins the product out.

  • Cheap
  • Blends well with beauty blender
  • Doesn’t crease

  • Not very pigmented
  • Can still see the product
  • Can still see dark circles
  • Applicator prone to harbor bacteria (doe foot)

Blushing Daisy Score: 7/10

I would have given this a 5 if I never thought of using a beauty blender. It didn’t crease by itself, so a 7 is a more deserved grade than a 6.

Will I purchase this again? Yes, if Hard Candy’s concealer ends up being worse.

What concealer do you use?

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara Review

I received Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara as a part of the Sephora Favorites Lash Stash To Go. The packaging states that this mascara creates “fanned out, high volume” lashes. The brush, as you can see, contains an array of bristles that easily catch every single eye lash!

I did not experience any flaking or smudging while wearing this mascara. It was also easy to remove at the end of the day. Here is a comparison with two coats and with out the mascara:

It really “fans out” my lashes!! I like it a lot. It is VERY buildable, and I like that with a mascara.

This retails for $27.50 (0.22 fl oz) at Sephora. The sample I received was 0.135 fl oz, worth roughly $16.88. It is on the pricy side, BUT if you pick up the Lash Stash before its gone, you can get 5 sample sizes and a full size mascara voucher for $25!

  • No flakes
  • Long Lasting
  • Nice application
  • Buildable
  • Easy removal
  • True advertisement

  • Price

Blushing Daisy Score: 9/10

I am excited to see which mascara I love the  most. I have a feeling that it will be a very tough choice! I believe this mascara was the priciest of the bunch, but I am pleased with it! Would I buy this? Yes (If I wasn’t a broke college student!).

What is your favorite mascara?

Sephora Favorites: Lash Stash To Go

Oh my. Look at this pretty little thing!

For a limited time at Sephora you can purchase this pretty little sampler for $25. It comes with five different sample size mascaras and a voucher for a full size of one of the choices.

From left to right (sorry for the blur!):

  1. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (.17 oz- ~$14.50)
  2. tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes (.16 fl oz- $10)
  3. Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara (.18 fl oz- ~$8.75)
  4. Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara (.135 fl oz- ~$16.88)
  5. blinc inc Blinc Mascara (.08 fl oz- ~$9.90)

The prices are based from Sephora’s pricing. The packaging says that this is a $65 value, but honestly it is much more. The samples themselves are worth $60 together + the voucher. This little box is actually worth ~$80-90! I think $25 is a steal for this! You are practically paying for a full size mascara, and you are receiving five free sample sizes.

The voucher does not have a expiration date that I can see. I think it will take me at least a year to get through all of these samples! I will be reviewing these babies as I use them, Lancome being first. Mascara is really based on preference, so this is great for finding one that works great for you!

I didn’t think that I would ever get my hands on this baby! I am lucky to have such a supportive boyfriend. He definitely spoils me much more than I deserve! (Thank you Todd!)

What is your favorite mascara?

You better snag one up before this deal is gone! I highly recommend it.

Quick Eye Makeup- 5/7/14

I really don’t like uploading photos from my phone, but I don’t have my camera with me at school! (Hello from my college’s library!)

This morning, I snagged a few products before I ran off to school. I am happy that the bathrooms in the library are empty in the morning, and the lighting is, surprisingly, quite nice!

My eye makeup today consists of only four products!

photo (1)

  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe
  • MAC Satin Eyeshadow in Faux
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner (Black)
  • Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara (Black)

  1. With a CLEAN finger, apply the color tattoo onto your eye as a base.
  2. Blend it out upwards slightly above your eye socket.
  3. Apply Faux all over where you just applied the color tattoo.
  4. Apply a heavier, concentrated layer of Faux in the outer corner.
  5. BLEND your crease!! You do not wan’t a solid line of shadow (The photo doesn’t show how blended it really is in person, I apologize!)
  6. I would add a highlight from where the shadow you just applied ends, to the brow bone. (This will help you blend as well- I didn’t have one with me)
  7. Line your eyes with eyeliner however you please (optional)
  8. Add Faux under your eye lightly. This will make your eyeliner look less harsh if you apply it on your lower eye (as I did).
  9. Curl those lashes with a WARM curler! (I stick it in my waist band on my pants when I start my makeup so that my skin can warm it up!)
  10. Apply mascara. Let dry.
  11. Apply another coat of mascara. (optional, I didn’t today).
  12. I applied my mascara to my brows to fill them in a bit more!

You can use any color cream eyeshadow along with a complimenting powder shadow! Have fun with it!

I really hope that you have a wonderful hump-day!

I love making defined lines with pencil liner. It just looks so different compared to liquid to me (I love liquid too, don’t get me wrong!).

Today I did a nice spring look, and I thought that I would share!

  • Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance
  • Urban Decay Naked 3 palette-
  1. Base: Strange
  2. Crease blended upwards: Liar
  3. Crease concentrated: Darkside
  4. Outer lower lash line: Darkside
  • Highlight: White strip from Too Faced Snow Bunny Bronzer
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Eyeliner Pencil
  • MUFE Smokey Extravagant Mascara
  • Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara
  • ELF Eyebrow kit (mixed with NYX jumbo pencil in Black Bean)

  • Buxom Lipstick in Centerfold

  • ELF face primer
  • Covergirl Clean Concealer in Light
  • Covergirl tinted moisturizer in Fair to Light
  • Too Faced Snow Bunny (highlight & bronzer)
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy
  • Too Faced Primed and Poreless

I hope you are having a wonderful Friday!

MUFE/Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift Review

MUFE bday MUFE bday 2

I think it is amazing that Sephora gives you a free gift just for being a Beauty Insider on the month of your birthday! If you haven’t signed up already, do it! It is free. You gain points every time you make purchases as well, which may be redeemed for free items (usually deluxe sample sizes unfortunately!). The products in the birthday gift are from Make Up For Ever.

Mascara “Smokey Extravagant”:

MUFE Mascara

I have been wanting a new mascara, and this gift couldn’t have come at a more perfect time!  The brush has a much wider base as opposed to the tip, but I had no problems using it. My lashes looked a bit fuller and longer and it held my curl well. I was previously using Covergirl’s Clump Crusher and it didn’t look like I had any mascara on when I used it! It also would not let my lashes hold a curl for some odd reason! (I warm up my eyelash curler prior to use FYI!). I like this little tube, but I am not sure if I would want to repurchase. I would want to compare more brands before I made that big of a commitment! I am not sure if I am sold on buying higher end mascara. I hear a lot of people say that there is really no point. This is one item that if really different for every user!

MUFE Mascara Score: 9/10

Lipstick: “Rogue Artist Natural”:

Left: natural lips; Right: Lipstick

I really like the lipstick! It is about a shade darker than my actual lip color, so it’s really nice for a natural to no makeup look! The smell isn’t bad, and it does not feel thick or heavy. I didn’t need to put balm on before application; it was so moisturizing! With out food it lasted about 5-6 hours. It does need a touch up after eating though, which is common for a regular lipstick. Would I buy lipstick from MUFE? Definitely. I have no complaints! I’m tempted to get a full size of this color eventually! I am not a natural lipstick girl, so that’s saying a lot!

This lipstick had very minimal kiss transfer! Much less than my MAC lipsticks.

MUFE Lipstick Score: 10/10
