REVIEW: MAC LIQUIDLAST LINER

Why hello everyone!

It has definitely been a while. I have been so busy, and I wanted to pop in and say hello! What better way than a review?

It has been very difficult to pry the stila Stay All Day liquid liner pen from my hands, and I haven’t wanted to try another liner since. I received this MAC Liquidlast Liner as a gift, and I have never tried a liquid eyeliner from MAC before.

LET ME WARN YOU NOW, if you are not keen to brush applicators, this product is NOT for you. The first time that I ever used a liquid eyeliner, it had a brush applicator. It was an absolute disaster!! I avoided them since, but that was about 8-9 years ago (wow, time flies!). When I opened this liner it felt like the ultimate test. It definitely gets easier with practice. I have been wearing winged-style eyeliner since the beginning of high school, so I have had my fair amount of practice.

IMG_0001

This eyeliner has great pigmentation, and it definitely lasts. I never experience flaking or smudging, with or without primer.

IMG_0013

IMG_0019

I can get nice, clean wings with ease. The brush isn’t too long or flimsy. I’d say that it is a better brush applicator if you are just starting out with a brush style.

This eyeliner runs for $19.50, and you receive 0.084 fl oz. That is a whopping ~$232.14/fl oz! Oh my MAC! It is pigmented, and a little goes a long way.

Pros:

  • Pigmented
  • Long wear time
  • Stiff brush compared to others
  • Qualifies for Back 2 MAC program
  • Doesn’t irritate my eyes

Cons:

  • Brush applicator (if that’s not your thing)
  • Can be a little difficult to remove
  • Expensive for some (I think it’s priced just fine)
  • It gets on my eyelashes while applying

Blushing Daisy Score: 9/10

I knocked a point because I don’t like when liquid eyeliner gets all over my lashes during application. I prefer the stila pen for that sole reason. I do really like this liner. A lot of drugstore liquid eyeliners irritate my eyes, and this eyeliner does no such thing. I don’t mind it being a tad more difficult to remove because that ensures that the wear time is fabulous. I love that it qualifies for the Back 2 MAC program; I can save the empty tube, along with five other qualified products, for a new lipstick! I think it’s good to have different types of eyeliner in your arsenal. I am definitely happy to have this one be a part of  mine.

What is your favorite liquid eyeliner?

QUICK PICTORIAL: WINGED EYELINER FOR HOODED EYES

Hello Everyone!

I was attempting to film my everyday makeup routine today, but my camera decided to bug out on me right when I got to doing my eyeliner. I was bummed, but I decided to scratch the video and just do a quick pictorial on how I do my winged eyeliner! I used the Stila Stay All Day liquid liner pen today.

Hopefully I will have my next video up fairly quickly. It looks like I need to clear up some memory on my card before I try to make such a large video!

I promise, I will film an in depth winged eyeliner tutorial as my next video! Onto the pictorial!

Step 1:

IMG_0049

First things first, with your eyeliner, line your lash line. I find it easiest to start in the middle, then move outward. I then go back to the middle and line inward. You want your line to gradually increase in thickness as you move outward.

Step 2:

IMG_0050

Next, you need to relax your face and look completely straight into the mirror. You want to draw (with a light hand) the bottom part of your wing. You want it to be proportional to the very tail end of your eyebrow. Since my eyes are hooded, I draw the line with a relaxed face because if you pull your skin taught, it will look wonky when your eye is in it’s normal resting position.

Step 3:

IMG_0051

Now, you want to draw the upper half of your wing and connect it to the outer corner of your eyeliner that was previously drawn. You want your wing to be sharp, like a dagger. You want people to fear you because of how intimidating those wings are!

Step 4:

IMG_0052

This step may be the easiest of them all. Just fill in that empty space between the top part of the wing and the lower part. Now, if you are happy with the thickness, you may leave your wing the way it is and skip step 5 and move onto step 6. If you are fierce, like a lion, you may proceed.

Step 5:

IMG_0054

Retrace that sweet, sweet liner and make it just a bit more THICK! Now, you are the king/queen of the animal kingdom. You have achieved what many still fear. If you are reading this and you decided to keep your tiny dagger the way it was, you, my dear, are still a fierce lion. Any cat eye, no matter the size, is a victorious moment.

Step 6:

IMG_0055

Curl those lashes! I keep my curler in between my thighs while I do my makeup so that it may warm up. You can always blast it with a blow dryer for a few seconds as well. I hold this curling position for 10-15 seconds per eye.

Step 7:

IMG_0058

Run some mascara over those lashes! I did one coat, waited a minute, then applied a second coat.

Step 8:

IMG_0064

Repeat steps 1-7 on your opposing eye. You got this!

Step 9:

IMG_0063

Be the fierce feline that you are! You rock!

FOTD: June 6th, 2014

Hello everyone!

I thought I would just do a quick face of the day today. I am excited to review a bunch of products, but I want to use them just a tad bit more so that I can review them properly!

I wanted to look fabulous while I sat in bed and binged watch season two of Orange is the New Black! I won’t give any spoilers, but I feel like I should have waited to read the book until the series was finished… I am too practical for the huge differences between the book and the show! I am just going to have to enjoy the series in all of it’s false-ness. (:

Onto the products!

This blush is ridiculous. It's so natural, yet stands out beautifully.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Pen Review

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Review

This is actually an item that I didn’t think I would ever purchase. Why? Because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around a pen shaped eyeliner. I purchased the same style eyeliner from ELF about seven (yes seven) years ago. It was dry when I received it, and I chalked it up to being a pen shape. Now, I am not saying that ELF’s eyeliner pen is bad as of today, they may have improved it in due time. Hell, I don’t even know if they sell it anymore!

So, why do I own this? This was in a little Sephora bag that my boyfriend, Todd, surprised me with recently. He is the sweetest, and I adore him! I don’t know if he will be reading this, but THANK YOU SWEETIE!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner Review

The applicator is a felt tip, and it is a bit flimsy at the very tip. I can see this possibly being a problem for some, but I don’t have any problem using it. The cap feels spring loaded and very secure. I suggest that this be stored upside down, so you can get the most out of your product. I have heard very, very bad things about how quickly this pen can dry up (usually about 3 months). I haven’t had this product long enough to know, but I have had absolutely no problems so far. My guess is that the pen isn’t being stored properly? I will do an update post once this thing is dry/all used up. Who knows, it may be booted off of my HG (holy grail) list… Well, I guess you know that this will be a positive review!!

_IGP9822

I feel naughty for recycling a photo, but I think that it shows the product very nicely. This pen is SO easy to use, and I get wings so sharp, “they could kill a man”. I usually get both of my wings applied in a minute or less with this eyeliner, and they always look FAB. I have fallen asleep with this liner on (unintentionally actually), but it was ALMOST perfect when I woke up in the morning. I literally touched up the spots that had some wear and went about my day. My eyes have never gotten irritated with this eyeliner. I have had problems with some liquids in the past, they burn my eyes! Some people experience flaking with this pen, and I haven’t had that problem AT ALL! This may be a love/hate product. Just know: Sephora has a great return policy, and don’t feel embarrassed if you want to return any products.

This product retails for $20 at Sephora for 0.016oz. Oh my, that is $1,250/oz!! You know what I may be doing? Looking for a drug store dupe until I am employed. I would buy this product forever if I could, but I will let you in on a big secret: I AM BROKE! 😀

Well, let me give you the run down:

Pros:

  • Pigmented
  • Long lasting (with out primer)
  • Ease of use
  • Sleek packaging
  • Wings so sharp, they could kill a man

Cons:

  • Oh me, oh my that price! (psst, I would repurchase.)

Blushing Daisy Score: 9.5/10

Why didn’t I dock more points for the price? Because I think this item is worth the splurge. I may reevaluate this score if I find a good drugstore dupe! For now, I am EXTREMELY pleased with this item. I don’t know how the quality of the colored liners are, but speaking for the black, I am quite fond.

Do you own this product? How do you like it? What other pen style liners have you used?

Quick Eye Makeup- 5/7/14

photo

I really don’t like uploading photos from my phone, but I don’t have my camera with me at school! (Hello from my college’s library!)

This morning, I snagged a few products before I ran off to school. I am happy that the bathrooms in the library are empty in the morning, and the lighting is, surprisingly, quite nice!

My eye makeup today consists of only four products!

photo (1)

  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe
  • MAC Satin Eyeshadow in Faux
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner (Black)
  • Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara (Black)

Directions:

  1. With a CLEAN finger, apply the color tattoo onto your eye as a base.
  2. Blend it out upwards slightly above your eye socket.
  3. Apply Faux all over where you just applied the color tattoo.
  4. Apply a heavier, concentrated layer of Faux in the outer corner.
  5. BLEND your crease!! You do not wan’t a solid line of shadow (The photo doesn’t show how blended it really is in person, I apologize!)
  6. I would add a highlight from where the shadow you just applied ends, to the brow bone. (This will help you blend as well- I didn’t have one with me)
  7. Line your eyes with eyeliner however you please (optional)
  8. Add Faux under your eye lightly. This will make your eyeliner look less harsh if you apply it on your lower eye (as I did).
  9. Curl those lashes with a WARM curler! (I stick it in my waist band on my pants when I start my makeup so that my skin can warm it up!)
  10. Apply mascara. Let dry.
  11. Apply another coat of mascara. (optional, I didn’t today).
  12. I applied my mascara to my brows to fill them in a bit more!

You can use any color cream eyeshadow along with a complimenting powder shadow! Have fun with it!

I really hope that you have a wonderful hump-day!

Surprise Haul From A Wonderful Boyfriend

L1050314

My boyfriend, Todd, is so amazing. He knows what I will love without even asking! My eyes lit up when I saw that beautiful little Sephora bag in his hands.

I got out of class early today (I still have class later this evening though unfortunately!), and I got home while Todd was still at the mall. I knew he was picking up some jeans for work, but I had no idea that he would be coming home with surprises for me!

I have been wanting a bronzer, and Snow Bunny from Too Faced is ADORABLE! I mean, how can you not like something with the name “Snow Bunny”?

My liquid liner took a crap on me on Saturday, and I practically had a melt down (let’s face it, I totally had a melt down) because we were already at a car show about an hour and a half away from home! Clumpy eyeliner is not the business. I have heard MANY great things about Stila’s Stay All Day liquid eyeliner pen, so I am super pumped about it! I already adore their Stay All Day liquid lipstick, so I know I will love this!

I have been wanting an eyeliner pencil from Urban Decay for a very long time now, and I am almost out of my MAC Technakohl eyeliner… I don’t even think that Todd knew that.

L1050323

Swatches from left to right:

  1. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black Velvet
  2. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black
  3. Too Faced Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer

First Impressions:

  1. UD’s pencil feels like butter and is very pigmented.
  2. Stila has great packaging, it is very pigmented as well, and this is not going to budge, I can already tell! I couldn’t get the thin line underneath to even come off!
  3. SNOW BUNNY IS GORGEOUS! I love the luminous glow. It’s awesome that I can choose if I want to blend all of the colors or just use specific ones.

You should expect some reviews soon on these products!

Overall, I am ECSTATIC! Todd, thank you so much! I LOVE YOU!
I LOVE HIM YOU GUYS!!!
